Public Notice: The Safety, Accountability, Fairness and Equity (SAFE-T) Act requires Illinois law enforcement officers to wear body-worn cameras (BWCs). The law was passed in February 2021 and aims to improve transparency and accountability between police and the public. The Durand Police Department was required to have BWC’s in use as of January 1st, 2025. The Durand Police Department has had BWC’s deployed since May of 2024 to be ahead of the compliance date of 1/2025.
