The purpose is connect the North end of town to the South end of town, providing safe pedestrian travel. It will also allow children in the Otter Creek Subdivision a safer route to school. A $650,000 IDOT Local Project Fund Grant (100%) was awarded to the Village of Durand in 2025. It will be used to complete Phase 1 & Phase 2 of the required engineering and environmental plans.
The Village of Durand will then apply for the IDOT ITEP- Illinois Transportation Enhancement Program Grant (80/20 split) by October 2026. If the Village is awarded the ITEP Grant, the project will move forward to construction, estimated to be completed in Summer of 2028. Any remaining funds from the LPF Grant will be used as the Village’s required 20% out-of-pocket match. The intention is to complete the project with 100% grant funds.
