DURAND POLICE MAKE ARREST IN ROBBERY/CRIMINAL TRESPASS

On Tuesday, September 1, at approximately 12:55 P.M. the Durand Police Department received a 9-1-1 call of a residential burglary in progress in the 400 block of East North Street. At 12:55 P.M. the first Durand officer arrived on scene and quickly detained two subjects in the area.

During the investigation, it was determined that forced entry was made into the home, a brief struggle ensued. The suspects knew the victim, who does not live there, and specifically targeted the person over a property dispute. A cellular phone was taken from the victim.  The Durand resident, who was at home during the incident, was uninvolved and unharmed.

Timuriel E. Barfield, 23 years old, of Rockford was charged with Domestic Battery, Robbery, Criminal Trespass to Residence and Criminal Damage to Property. Barfield was lodged at the Winnebago County Jail.

The second person previously detained was released without charges.

Neither the victim nor the Durand resident was injured during the incident and declined medical care.

The Durand Police Department received assistance from the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department, Pecatonica Police Department and the Illinois State Police.
