Rock River Energy Services has informed the Village that the 2026 Municipal Electric Aggregation letters were recently mailed to the community. The previous aggregation has or will expire soon.
Rock River Energy Services combines multiple communities to review energy supply rates available for a Municipal Aggregation Agreement to provide leverage for the lowest rate available at the time. This rate will be 10.4 cents/kWh for 23 months with MC Squared Energy Services LLC (mc²) starting with the June 2026 read cycle. The bill from ComEd is the same except under the “supplier”, you will see mc².
HOW THIS AFFECTS YOU: It’s a bit more confusing this time around because there are four (4) different letters that went out:
Rate RRTP= Residential Real Time Pricing
If you are on the hourly supply program
YOU WILL NOT BE SWITCHED.
NET METERING = Those with solar panels
YOU WILL NOT BE SWITCHED to protect your net metering program and any special rate electricity supply rates that you may have.
OPT-IN NOTICE: Your electric utility has informed us that you are currently served or have chosen to be served by another competitive retail electric supplier or have special services with ComEd. YOU WILL NOT BE SWITCHED.
OPT-OUT NOTICE: If you do not have solar, special program rates or another retail energy supplier, YOU WILL AUTOMATICALLY BE SWITCHED UNLESS YOU OPT-OUT BY MAY 5, 2026.
Any resident that WILL NOT BE SWITCHED may choose to switch by following the instructions on the letter to do so.
