Winnebago County EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT HAS SHARED THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION FROM THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE:
A potentially dangerous line of severe thunderstorms, expected between 7pm – 1am, this evening, capable of producing:
○ Widespread damaging winds, possibly in
excess of 75 mph in a few areas
○ Numerous tornadoes, one or two of
which could be strong (EF2)
✔ Be prepared for power outages.
✔ Stay tuned for forecast updates.
Be Prepared for Nighttime Tornadoes:
✔ Have your cell phone turned on, charged and have Emergency Weather Alerts enabled
✔ Have a flashlight and sturdy shoes handy
✔ If you have an NOAA Weather Radio, test regularly and make sure its tuned to a local station
✔ Have a safe place prepared if you know storms are coming
COMED HAS ALSO SHARED:
ComEd is closely monitoring a weather system forecast to enter the ComEd service territory at 6pm this afternoon. Storms will continue through the evening and into the night as the front moves across our service territory. This system is expected to include wind gusts exceeding 50mph and up to 70mph with lightning and isolated tornados possible.
ComEd has adjusted staffing levels and will be opening our command centers in advance of the storm, we will continue to monitor the storm as it develops across our service territory and will provide updates as they become available.
